Dončić drops 41-point triple-double as Mavericks beat Thunder again, take 2-0 series lead
OKLAHOMA CITY, April 24
– Luka Dončić delivered a monster performance with 41 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-108 on the road in Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference semi-finals, taking a 2-0 series lead.
The Thunder led by as many as 8 points in the first quarter, but Dončić erupted for 15 points in the second quarter to put Dallas ahead. Oklahoma City mounted multiple comeback attempts in the second half. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 33 points, while Chet Holmgren added 21 points and 10 rebounds. However, the Mavericks shot 42% from three-point range, and Kyrie Irving contributed 26 points. With three minutes remaining, Dončić hit back-to-back step-back three-pointers to seal the victory.
"Winning two straight on the road means a lot to us, but the series is far from over," Dončić said after the game. Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault stressed the need to adjust defensive schemes. Game 3 will move to the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
