Lewis Hamilton’s bulldog Roscoe was a fixture in the F1 paddock and a beloved companion to the seven-time world champion. Over the years, Roscoe gathered a devoted following and became a symbol of loyalty, joy, and unconditional love beyond the racetrack.

Roscoe was more than a pet—he was a friend, a confidant, and in many ways, part of Hamilton’s journey through victories, struggles, and life on the road.

⚠️ A Painful Turn: Illness & Life Support

Recently, Roscoe’s health took a serious turn. He battled pneumonia, and after being admitted to a veterinary hospital, was placed on a ventilator. During this battle, his heart stopped, forcing veterinarians to revive him.

He was then placed in a coma, with Hamilton staying by his side. Hamilton withdrew from a scheduled Pirelli tyre test and other commitments to be with Roscoe, hoping for a recovery.

💔 The Hardest Decision: Saying Goodbye

After four days on life support, Hamilton revealed that Roscoe’s condition deteriorated, and the decision was made to put him down. He passed away in Hamilton’s arms on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Hamilton described it as:

“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe.”

He also reflected on the depth of their bond:

“Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made … I will forever cherish the memories we created together.”

✨ A Legacy in the Paddock

Roscoe’s presence extended beyond Hamilton’s life. He traveled to races, had his own paddock pass, and became well-known among fans and inside F1 circles. His Instagram account had over 1.4 million followers.

His passing prompted an outpouring of sympathy across the motorsport world. The official F1 account called Roscoe “a true star in his own right.”

❤️ Coping with Loss & Moving Forward

Losing a beloved pet is devastating, especially when the relationship is as deep and public as Hamilton and Roscoe’s. For fans, it’s a reminder that even the greatest champions face heartbreak in everyday life.

To Hamilton, the loss is personal and profound:

“It’s one of the most painful experiences … to love so deeply and to be loved in return.”

As Hamilton prepares to return to the track, he carries with him Roscoe’s memory — in every paddock smile, every quiet moment of reflection, and the knowledge that a friend like him changed his life.
