Genshin Impact Wanderer Ascension and Talent Materials: Complete List and Guide
Few characters have achieved or are likely to achieve the level of popularity that the Wanderer has. This Anemo catalyst user is known by multiple names: The Wanderer, Balladeer, Kunikuzushi, Scaramouche, among others. A former member of the Fatui Harbingers and a god-made puppet, Wanderer was finally made playable during the Sumeru arc after years of fans clamoring for it.
Given his immense popularity, many players will be eager to ascend him and maximize his talents. This comprehensive guide will detail all the requirements for unlocking higher levels through ascension and upgrading his three talents.
Leveling Materials
Despite his brief stint as a god and his divine origin, the Wanderer requires the same amount of EXP as other characters to reach level 90, as shown below:
Wanderer Ascension Items
Many anticipated that Scaramouche would be a playable Electro character, but he wields an Anemo Vision instead. Consequently, he requires Vayuda Turquoise for ascension. Interestingly, he also needs items from both Inazuma and Sumeru.
Gemstones - Where to Find Vayuda Turquoise
There are several locations to obtain each of the elemental ascension gems, including Vayuda Turquoise. However, the most reliable method is by farming bosses that can drop it, such as:
Anemo Hypostasis
Maguu Kenki
Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network
Setekh Wenut
Icewind Suite (Coppelia)
Dvalin (Confront Stormterror)
Scaramouche (Joururi Workshop)

Enemy Drop - Where to Find Handguards
Although the Wanderer is considered a Sumeru character, players must return to his homeland, Inazuma, for some of his ascension materials. This is because his enemy drop, Handguards, cannot be obtained in Sumeru. The enemies that drop them are based in Inazuma. These enemies are the Nobushi and the Kairagi, rogue samurai found around the Inazuman archipelago.
These samurai are abundant around Yashiori Island, and can also be found in various locations across Inazuma. Other areas with a significant number of them include Tsurumi Island and the north half of Narukami Island.
Enemies must be at specific levels to drop higher-quality items. The same applies to Nobushi and Kairagi.
At any level, they can drop Old Handguards
At level 40 and higher, they can drop Kageuchi Handguards
At level 60 and higher, they can drop Famed Handguards
Boss Drop - How to Get Perpetual Caliber
For the Wanderer's boss drop, it's time to head back to Sumeru. The Aeonblight Drake, a Sumeru boss, is the source of his boss drop material, the Perpetual Caliber. This boss is located inside Devantaka Mountain, which can be a bit difficult to access. The best approach is to teleport to the waypoint at the north tip of the crater valley in the middle of the mountain (where the giant Ruin Guard is). From there, use Dendro on the Clusterleaf of Cultivation and make your way to the cave. Keep to the right to find the boss.
Local Specialty - Where to Find Rukkhashava Mushrooms
Those who aimed to ascend Collei upon Sumeru's initial release are well aware of the challenges in finding Rukkashava Mushrooms. Unfortunately, the Wanderer also requires this local specialty. They can be found in multiple locations, but are often difficult to spot as they are either underground or concealed in trees and beneath large mushroom caps. Hotspots for Rukkashava Mushrooms include north of Pardis Dhyai, around Mawtiyima Forest, in caves around Devantaka Mountain, and around Apam Woods.
Fortunately, there are two NPCs that sell these mushrooms: Ashpazi in Gandharva Ville and Aramani the Aranara, located in a cave under a rock formation in the dream version of Vanarana. Both sell five Rukkashava Mushrooms for 1,000 Mora each, and restock every three days.
Wanderer Talent Materials
To upgrade the Wanderer's talents, the following materials are necessary.
Talent Books - Praxis
There are three talent books in each region, and in Sumeru, one of them is Praxis. This series is used by the Wanderer for his talent upgrades.
These talent books can be farmed in the Steeple of Ignorance on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Trounce Materials - Daka's Bell
It's somewhat unusual that the Wanderer uses a material from himself for his talent upgrades, but the same is true for Childe, suggesting it's a common trait among Fatui Harbingers.
The specific trounce material that the Wanderer uses is Daka's Bell, which is obtained by defeating Scaramouche's boss fight, technically known as Joururi Workshop.
This trounce domain is only accessible after completing Sumeru Archon Quest Chapter III: Act V - Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises up to the end of the section titled "Where the Boat of Consciousness Lies."
