Genshin Impact: Mastering the Cleaning of the Root - Consuming Tumor in "Within the Depths of Erinnyes" Quest Walkthrough
"Within the Depths of Erinnyes" stands as the final quest in the World Quest series, "The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes." This new quest has recently been introduced in the new Fontaine region's Erinnyes Forest within Genshin Impact.
The main quest guides the Traveler and Paimon on an adventure around the Erinnyes Forest, including the Weeping Willow, Foggy Forest Path, and Loch Urania, accompanied by a mysterious Melusine named Pahsiv.
How to Initiate "Within the Depths of Erinnyes
To trigger this Genshin Impact quest, Travelers must head east from the Marcotte Station Teleport Waypoint towards the blue quest marker at the fountain. After activating the quest, players are tasked with searching for Teardrop Keys in three areas to unlock the Fountain. To access this final quest, players need to complete the following sub - quests:
- Foggy Forest Path
- Wilting Weeping Willow
- Furious Mouth of the Spring
Once the third quest, "Furious Mouth of the Spring," is completed, the last quest unlocks automatically, and Travelers should return to Marcotte Station. After obtaining all the Teardrop Keys, a cutscene will play where Pahsiv requests the Traveler to place the Keys in the fountain.
Travelers can then place each Teardrop Key in the respective statues without any specific order. After this, another cutscene will play, and players will be prompted to enter the passage beneath the fountain. The water level will drop, making the secret passage accessible.
There is water in the passage. Travelers simply need to dive in and swim straight to the bottom. They can look out for an underwater portal with a Luxurious Chest placed beside it as an indicator.
Players are advised to claim the chest before entering the portal. But if some Travelers forget, they can always return to retrieve it.
After passing through the portal, players will be carried by the current into a new area with a Teleport Waypoint. They can unlock this Waypoint and venture deeper into the roots of the Weeping Willow.
Cleansing the Filth Near the Roots
After a cutscene, Travelers must cleanse the filth accumulating on the roots of the Weeping Willow. This involves eliminating the Root - Consuming Tumor. It's important to note that there are several Rifthounds lurking in the area. Clearing them first before dealing with the root will reduce distractions.
Travelers should first clear the Contaminated Bacterial Mats surrounding the area. There's a Ball Octopus ability nearby that players can utilize for this purpose. Once all the Contaminated Bacterial Mats are removed, Travelers can then use the same ability to attack the main Tumor.
However, when the Tumor's HP reaches a certain percentage, an additional wave of Contaminated Bacterial Mats will appear. Pahsiv will join the fight, enhancing the Traveler's ability, allowing players to destroy multiple Bacterial Mats at once. Dodging can be challenging as the movements of the Bacterial Mats are unpredictable. Instead, players may consider bringing shield - wielding characters to avoid significant HP loss.
Once all the Bacterial Mats are eradicated, Travelers can focus on the Tumor and cleanse it until it completely disappears.
Defeating the Rifthounds
After cleaning the Tumor, a cutscene will play where Paimon, the Traveler, and Pahsiv discuss the details of the root cleansing. However, during their conversation, an arcane formation will appear beneath their feet, triggering an attack by Rifthounds.
Players should be aware that the Rifthounds will emerge in four waves. Although Pahsiv’s Vishap joins the battle to assist, it can't deal substantial damage. Travelers can choose any character from their lineup. But they must remember the Corrosion effect that Rifthounds continuously inflict on their enemies. Using healers like Sangonomiya Kokomi, Kuki Shinobu, Bennett, Barbara, or Diona can be helpful during this fight.
Travelers need to keep defeating the Rifthounds until they stop spawning, at which point another cutscene will play.
Following the Current
The cutscene will eventually lead the Traveler to follow a current out from beneath the Weeping Willow and towards the surface. Players will then have a brief chat with Pahsiv again, who will offer the Traveler a number of chests and money bags.
How to Unlock Pahsiv’s Shop
Now that the "Within the Depths of Erinnyes" quest is completed, players gain access to Pahsiv’s shop. This enigmatic Melusine sells a variety of Fontainian goods in exchange for Tidalga.
