# Genshin Impact - Fontemer Aberrant Farming Guide

With the release of Genshin Impact's version 4.0 and the introduction of the Fontaine region, players have encountered new enemies known as Fontemer Aberrants. These aquatic life forms can be found throughout the Fontaine region, both on land and underwater. They add diversity to the game's ecosystem, offering new challenges as players explore this new area.

Fontemer Aberrants in Genshin Impact consist of various sea creatures, such as crabs, seahorses, seals, octopuses, and more. They come in different colors and have varying levels of aggression. While encountering and defeating them is generally straightforward, except for miniboss versions (Local Legends), there are some details to note. All Fontemer Aberrants drop the same material, Transoceanic Pearl, along with its higher - rarity forms, Transoceanic Chunk and Xenochromatic Crystal, which are used for character ascension and talents, especially for characters like Freminet and the Hydro Traveler.

Types of Fontemer Aberrants

Currently, there are 7 normal Fontemer Aberrants and 3 elite versions. Elite versions are typically stronger and can be found both on land and in the sea. Elite versions have a higher chance of dropping the higher - rarity versions of the talent and ascension material. Normal versions mostly drop Transoceanic Pearls due to drop - chance modifiers.

Unlike normal versions, which are generally non - aggressive and will only start attacking if players attack first, elite versions will aggro players when approached, regardless of whether they are attacked or not. Elite versions also get a shield when found on land, reducing the damage they take. However, this shield is not immune to damage like some other enemy shields, such as those of Abyss Mages or Abyss Heralds. Here are all types of Fontemer Aberrants players can encounter:

Normal Fontemer Aberrants

- Angelic Sea Hare

- Armored Crab

- Ball Octopus

- Blubberbeast

- Bubbly Seahorse

- Hat Jellyfish

- Hunter's Ray

Elite Fontemer Aberrants

- Bubbler Seahorse

- Cherubic Sea Hare

- Sternshield Crab

How to Farm Fontemer Aberrants

With nearly 500 Fontemer Aberrant spots, most of which are underwater, it's not entirely possible to follow a specific farming route. Since most higher - rarity materials come from elite Fontemer Aberrants, it is recommended that players farm the ones on land first. Then, use the in - game enemy tracking guide to find the underwater ones while also farming others they may encounter on the way to the next spots. The enemy tracking guide usually shows only groups with elite Fontemer Aberrants (unless none remain), but there may be normal versions alongside them.

It's important to note that while players can use their character skills on land to defeat Fontemer Aberrants, for underwater ones, it's best to make good use of nearby Xenochromatic creature abilities. For example, the water blades from Hunter Rays, sonar waves from Blubberbeasts, and armor from the Armored Crabs. These creatures can generally be found in the area and have a marker related to their abilities on their heads for easy identification. After aiming at them, players can use basic attacks to obtain their ability. It's possible to defeat Fontemer Aberrants without using these abilities, but it will take longer and players are more vulnerable to attacks, which may knock their characters down.

For land - based Fontemer Aberrants, players can bring any team they usually use for farming. However, since they can get a shield, it's ideal to focus on applying as many elements as possible (and preferably include at least one Hydro character to be effective against all elites) to break their shields through elemental reactions. During their shield mode, they will typically launch stronger (and elemental) attacks while also gaining a 60% resistance to all elements and damage types. Bubbler Seahorse gains an electro shield, Cherubic Sea Hare gains a cryo shield, and Sternshield Crab gains a pyro shield.

Fontemer Aberrant Locations on land

Fontemer Aberrants at Belleau

On the south of the map, near the first Statue of Seven in Fontaine, island formations have many Fontemer Aberrants. The nearest teleport point to reach is either through the most southern teleport point of the Beryl region or preferably through the artifact domain in the Belleau region. Players can circle around each island and region coasts nearby. Those who want to make the most of this route can also dive between the islands to find underwater Fontemer Aberrants on the way.

On the south part of the main island of Belleau Region, there are more Fontemer Aberrants easily reachable through the nearby teleport point.

There are also two more locations for Fontemer Aberrants in the middle and northern parts of the Belleau Region. However, these are best farmed while also exploring underwater locations as the land teleport point is not close. By using an underwater teleport point, players can find many more enemies to farm and make their farming route more efficient.

Fontemer Aberrants at Court of Fontaine

While there aren't many land - based Fontemer Aberrant spots at Court of Fontaine, the few locations that exist are packed with multiple sets of elite Fontemer Aberrants and normal versions. One spot is on the northern part of the Court of Fontaine at the western side of the map. Players will find many Fontemer Aberrants upon teleporting to the designated teleport point.

Similarly, upon teleporting to the designated teleport point and following the shoreline towards the west, players will find more Fontemer Aberrants. The eastern part of the Court of Fontaine's land region has no land - based enemies of this kind, while plenty can be found underwater in the large water body in between.

Fontemer Aberrants at Beryl

Fontemer Aberrants can be found all around Beryl's shoreline, including near the inland lake in the middle section of this area. Players simply need to take the nearest teleport points and follow along the shoreline to find them. The north shoreline of Beryl also has plenty of spots reachable through the nearby teleport points.
