🏁 Ducati Struggles Can’t Shake Bagnaia’s Loyalty
Francesco Bagnaia, a two-time MotoGP World Champion, says he remains fully committed to Ducati, even amid a difficult 2025 campaign that’s raised doubts about his long-term future with the team.
After winning the 2022 and 2023 titles and narrowly losing out in 2024 to Jorge Martin, Bagnaia has found himself struggling with the new GP25 machine. Still, the Italian believes his story began and should end with Ducati.
“I never doubt Ducati because I think my career was starting and finishing at Ducati,” — Bagnaia to MotoGP.com
📉 From Champion to Challenged
Bagnaia’s 2025 form has been inconsistent and puzzling:
- Qualified 21st in Barcelona
- No points at both Misano races
- A high in Japan with a dominant win
- A low in Indonesia, crashing out from last place
These fluctuations have raised eyebrows, especially as his teammate Marc Marquez has surged ahead, clinching the 2025 championship with five races to spare.
🤝 Learning from a Legend
Rather than seeing Marquez as a threat, Bagnaia says he’s inspired by the eight-time world champion:
“He is one of the best riders in the MotoGP era… You can only learn from a rider like him.”
Despite the gap in performance, Bagnaia emphasized the strong teamwork and respect within the Ducati garage, even as outside speculation mounts regarding his future.
🛠️ Searching for a Fix
Bagnaia explains that the issue isn't lack of effort:
“My side of the box was working a lot… but something was not clear. It’s not easy because when your teammate is winning and you are doing bad results, it’s hard to believe.”
Though he admits he didn’t recognize his own riding style earlier in the year, Bagnaia refused to lose confidence, crediting his engineers for their relentless effort to adapt the bike to his needs.
🧠 Will Ducati Stick or Twist for 2027?
Bagnaia is under contract through 2026, and Ducati boss Gigi Dall’Igna still regards him as “the second most important rider” in the team’s history behind Casey Stoner.
But with rising stars and the presence of Marquez, Ducati may soon face a dilemma: back Bagnaia or look toward the future?
For Bagnaia, the answer is clear. He’s betting everything on red — and on redemption.
